Artist: Leng Tch'e
Title: Hypomanic
Type: Album
Label: Season of Mist Records

These Belgians are a pretty tight unit and now having a full-force, stable line up they are knocking on the doors of the European Elite when it comes to Grindcore. Their last album output ‘Marasmus’ continued where ‘The Process of Elimination’ started it off proper for this writer. ‘Hypomanic’ takes it all into account and tells you to reconsider what would be your favourite Leng Tch’e album. It is something of a grind revolution compared to previous efforts. From the metallic roots in ‘The Stockholm Malevolence Project’ to the utter grind assault of ‘Wirehead Imbeciles’, you get a taste of everything. Blast beats are a feature and none so prevalent as those on ‘World State Abomination’; truly battering whilst maintaining a strong arrangement quality about it all.

‘Misleading Innuendos’ featured on last years split with Fuck the Facts, but a welcomed inclusion on the long player as it is a profound intent to destroy any opposition that may come into contact with them with a heavy reliance on good death metal groove to keep your head bobbing when you’re not going nuts. Serge is a strong vocal talent, ever so present and a blasphemous loud production sorts the men from the boys too. Another great track is ‘Totalitarian’ (featuring Mark “Barney” Greenway of Napalm Death), and you can really feel the quality Barney has added to this track, complimenting the band and giving them a more dynamic theatre to give it all to their fans. Guest appearances maybe a bonus for this band, on their own, they have mastered their craft and are ready to take their music to the next level.

Forget your grind wannabes, Leng Tch’e have produced the album of their life, lets hope the next one keeps all your senses stirred as ‘Hypomanic’ does, it is essential listening, death by a thousand cuts…you better believe it!
