Artist: Lechery
Title: In fire
Type: Album
Label: Metal Heaven Records

On first impressions of the album cover, I am taken back to my youth. I used to buy albums based a lot on real heavy metal pieces of artwork if I was unsure who the band was, some gems were found but also a lot of rubbish was too if the truth be told. However, Lechery make no mistakes with their initial visual representation, this is going to be a metal album, and after one spin, that is truly what you get.

Formed in 2004 in Sweden, following the styles of Sinner, Bullet (Deu) and many other counterparts, this is metal as it gets. I am strangely taken aback when I hear Martin Bengtsson’s vocals, I really think they are like some of Dee Snider’s tones in battle with Mat Sinner whilst being refereed by UDO, a remarkable feet I know, or just a bloody silly thought in my mind. But getting back to the review in hand, somewhat clichéd metal track titles flow with ease and glorious musical expression, take ‘Heart of a Metal Virgin’, truly magical, whilst the title track, ‘In fire’ really takes Lechery to the level of established metal gods we all know, love and respect. ‘Carry On’, ‘Mechanical Beast’ and ‘The Ignitor’ all have furious metal guitar work, anthemic vocal melodies and stellar arrangements. There is caution to be had, some of these excellent arrangements have very similar properties to one another, but in the spirit of excitement I have whilst I play this CD, I really don’t care!

Tried and tested this may be, but this is what metal should be about, high octane music and performance with a clear passion in the recorded delivery.
