Artist: Banished From Inferno
Title: Banished From Inferno
Type: EP
Label: Ibex Moon Records

Take a piece of primitive metal such as Celtic Frost and Darkthrone mix it with some crushing American Death Metal in the vein of the Florida state, then you have ‘Banished From Inferno’.

The music itself is a master class in sonic audio madness. Crushing death metal vocals intertwined with blasphemic cruel riffing makes for a good listen. ‘Storm Apokalypse’ and ‘Calaveras’ have more the Celtic Frost vein flowing, and they do catch you out by merging into one quite quickly. More head snapping moments arrive with ‘Stench of Evil Thru the Mist’, bringing more death metal influence to the forefront, whilst the guitar tone is purely death, the arrangement and notes produced give the listener that Norwegian feel, grim and cold. ‘The Solemn Bleakness’ does exactly as the title suggests, with a couple minutes of low-end audio. You can wander off to a different plane quite easily, that is until a few minutes after a further period of “silence” the wake up call comes with some lightening sound effects and more notes of evil…that is in fact a cover of ‘Into Crypts of Rays’ – by Celtic Frost.

Band members have plenty of heritage in the music scene. On vocals you have Rogga Johansson (Demiurg, Paganizer, Ribspreader and Edge of Sanity) – surprisingly no guitar playing credited on this EP, with other members forming part of Spanish brutal death metal purveyors Human Mincer and Wormed in the form of Phlegeton on drums. Guitarist Rober (Machetazo) completes the line up. There are 5 tracks of shear ear-splitting madness, with only 3 of them having vocals (if you discount the cover version). The remainder are intense arrangements that provoke the senses and mystify your mind. The CD tray and rear artwork is created by Mark Riddick (those who know US brutal death metal will know this guy), and mastering is courtesy of Dan Swano. Having been recorded and mastered in a couple of locations around Europe, somewhere and sometime…it’s appears a long distance collaboration between Spain and Sweden.

To put it simply, an excellent mind bending assault of punishing death metal mixed with bestial ambience and madness. Buy it!
