Artist: Cavalera Conspiracy
Title: Inflikted
Type: Album
Label: Roadrunner Records

I was one of the people who caught Sepultura on their last tour with the mighty Max Cavalera. The band went down hill while Max had gone from strength to strength with Soulfly, but many people still wanted the old Sepultura back, myself included. However, here we have the next best thing with both Max and his brother Iggor.

This was good news and with both the title track ‘Infliked’ and ‘Sanctuary’ doing the rounds on the cover CDs on many metal magazines, you got a good impression on what was about to be unleashed. Both songs hold nothing back and assault you with nothing but pure metal; what fans have come to expect from such an imposing partnership. One good thing is that they have totally done away with the tribal stuff, which makes this album all the better for it.

You can still hear some of the old Sep and Soulfly influences here but there is also a modern edge to the album. With songs such as ‘Terrorize’ and ‘Nevertrust’ you won’t be disappointed with the brothers’ effort. Even if Sepultura never reform with the classic line up this should keep fans more than happy for a long time to come.
