Title: Leng Tch’e / Fuck The Facts
Type: Split EP
Label: Power It Up Records

The Belgian crew ‘Leng Tch’e’ are to me one of the hottest bands around when it comes to grindcore having successfully based their sound on bands like ‘Nasum’ and ‘Blood Duster’. The four tracks that they have contributed to this EP, are in advance of their next album release due later this year, should give your senses a hangover cure instantly. If their last full-length release ‘Marasmus’ is anything to go by, this will be special. And so onto the EP, once again, power and brutality reign supreme. Lyrically you have the political and often truthful account of modern day society in ‘Misleading Innuendo’s’ whilst ‘Redemption Meltdown’ concentrates on the downfall of man and woman following flirtations with power and greed that results in them reduced to squalor, disease & drug abuse-filled lives. Musically it’s a good assault of the senses. Powerful distorted guitars, solid drum beats and a good overall sound balance. I can’t really fault anything on this section of the EP, admittedly I do like this band, but in fairness, if you like your grind, there should be no reason why you don’t like these. ‘Black Holes’ slows things down a little bit in terms of the brutal assault of the three previous numbers but on the whole it is a great start to the New Year!

‘Fuck The Facts’ from Canada formed in the late 1990’s and have been releasing material since the millennium. These folks have 5 tracks on this EP, but with the average track length being 1.5 minutes you can forgive them. These guys are immediately more chaotic than the former band on this EP. ‘Self Traitor’ has all the key elements there, but there appears to be a synth sound in the background that just makes it a wall of noise to listen too. ‘Everyone is Robbing the Dead’ restores the balance in a big way, much more precise and controlled, however, the vocals are still very much chaotic, more crusty punk (which we like)! Surprisingly there is a lot of melody later in this tune, a mid tempo neck assault then vocal harmonies, this works very well indeed and as I have said, it is a surprise to me. ‘Slave’ kicks you teeth out in one belt. Again, there are a few opportunities to release those neck muscles before descending into madness. A much more experimental part of this EP release (especially on ‘My Failures’) than a full force grind assault, but it’s very pleasing and with room for growth a-plenty.
