Artist: NFD
Title: Deeper Visions
Type: Album

A new NFD disc is always something I look forward to and ‘Deeper Visions’ album number three seems to be a bit of a mix of everything, presenting some live tracks from their shows and a couple of promo clips to watch as well as some new numbers and remixes for you to listen to.

Not that this should worry you at all as each and every number on this is a pure belter, really strong and memorable songs that stick in your head and will have you coming back to them again and again. Not that I am a fan of singles but ‘When The Sun Dies’ reviewed here recently and opening the album is simply one of the heaviest anthems I have heard in a long time, I have yet to catch it personally live but can imagine it really doing the job. It is also represented here with a live video and a remix, so if it isn’t latched in your noggin by the time you get through this you have to be somewhat brain-dead.

Onto the other new tracks and we have ‘Move In Closer’ bristling with a techno backbone before going into a Gothic gun-slinging sort of Western etched theme spurred on by Tony Pettitt’s bass and the shimmering guitars gleaming away around Peter ‘Bob’ White’s ever more formidable vocal croons. Let It Rain is begging for a remix (the miserable Goth mix) well luckily it’s not wetter than a wet weekend in Wales and as a ballad soars majestically over the misty valleys of green and grey and again has ‘classic’ track written all over it. ‘The Unforgiven’ is a classic doomed love song and really sends shivers down the spine as it softly caresses.

It’s back to stomping mode with ‘Senses Alive’ which pretty much lives up to its name pounding out a groove and chugging along hell for leather. Finally ‘Never Let This Die’ is another slow burner with full on atmosphere and a compelling percussion section. There is absolutely no denying the power of these songs here and even if this has the feel of a bits and pieces album at the price tag (pay no more than £8) it should not leave you feeling short changed in the slightest. I really enjoyed the video clip of ‘Light My Way’ with the group playing in an old warehouse with great camera effects. It looks like they are covered in (it surely couldn’t be) flour ahem and then again ‘Move In Closer’ does kind of remind a little of ‘Blue Water’ does it not? Ah what the hell.
