Artist: Procession
Title: Destroyers Of The Faith
Type: Album
Label: Doomentia

After a top quality demo (Burn) and an even better EP (The Cult Of Disease) Chilean doom masters Procession have finally unveiled their debut full length album, Destroyers Of The Faith and it’s a monolithic slab of epic doom nirvana. Immaculately produced to bring out the full resounding power of the riffs Destroyers Of The Faith is deeply steeped in the traditions of Candlemass. The quality vocals carry the mournful melodies over the seas of surging guitars with ease, while each thunderous drum beat threatens to shake the foundations of your house. The sheer power generated at the beginning of the momentous “The Road To The Gravegarden” is magnificent. In fact pretty much everything about “The Road To The Gravegarden” is bloody magnificent, be it the perfect pacing, the exquisite notes of the understated guitar lead or the measured vocal performance. This is a song of real stature. It says a lot for Destroyers Of The Faith that “The Road To The Gravegarden” doesn’t stand head and shoulders above the rest of the album as some towering aberrational highlight. Rather it is just one part of a fantastic whole. “Tomb Of Doom” is another personal current favourite – the simple drum pattern that ushers it in building the anticipation beautifully for the landslide of riffs to come. If you like doom metal of epic proportions then you’ll find little to match the magic of Procession.
