Hell yeah this is my new weapon. I can listen to it on MP3 player whilst out and about and trample over the sheeple that get in the way. I can put it on a stereo and guarantee clearing a room in seconds. This is musical torture to all but the hardiest of warriors, it is not for the herd and they would not be able to comprehend it in the slightest, wimps and poseurs leave the fucking hall now!
Luckily I already knew exactly what to expect from this band from the Philippines (but you had guessed that bit right?) having already got to grips in the barbaric fetid filth ridden ‘Satanik Eon’ album a while back. Deiphago can be summed up in one perhaps overused word ‘bestial,’ they play howling, rabid, animalistic primitive metal in ritualistic reverence to the old godz Sarcofago. They do it well too, as well as the Canadian hordes such as Revenge and Black Witchery but hailing from Asia it seems as though it is even more relevant, mysterious and cult!
Filipino Antichrist may only last 29 minutes, most listeners are likely to turn it off shortly after the madness of ‘Intro Annihilation’ bombs in to first track proper ‘Christ Eater’ and literally rips off their head and shits down their neck. This is a caustic miasma of frantically scything guitars and crashing drums and snares played at tornado like velocity, it is about as fast as music gets; much faster it would be white noise. Singer Voltaire 666 is on hand to scream out of this thick slew of rancid filth ridden noise. At times the vox are distorted and mangled with reverb making them all the more gloriously unhinged. One song finishes and with hardly a pause the next batters in, there are no slow parts or time to take a breath. In line with the album title there is no fucking god here in the slightest, songs such as ‘Subliminal Satan’ and ‘Satan, Semen and Blood’ have the unholy lords name flung out with wild abandon spitting in the face of Christ on the way.
Before you know it you are 4-5 tracks through and it has all been flung at you in a blur of (as the track title states) ‘Storming Chaos.’ A mad spiralling guitar solo can be heard cutting through the bowel churning stew of noise it might well come flying out the speakers and decapitate you. Of corpse there is a Sarcofago cover of ‘Hate’ and guess what? Yep it’s damn Hateful, the lunatic scream and machine gun bursts and then looser sound work fantastically here, love the vokills too.
Apparently there are various different pressings of this on CD and LP too, the die hard LP apparently comes in ltd edition of 111 hand numbered copies on coloured vinyl, back patch, poster, gatefold jacket, printed inner sleeve. Not sure if there are 111 maniax who have bought this yet.
