Artist: Bad Habit
Title: Atmosphere
Type: Album
Label: AOR Heaven Records

Bad Habit are a Swedish AOR band formed way back in 1987, their latest offering ‘Atmosphere’ is one of those albums that is an instant winner if you are a fan of this genre. From the first second of the album, the music oozes maturity and damn fine song writing, whilst the vocals courtesy of Bax Fehling provides a perfect backbone to the majestic tunes that flow with ease. ‘Words Are Not Enough’ is one of those tunes you wish you had written yourself, it is perfect and has so much thought behind its production, arrangement and overall classy performance. Bad Habit is certainly not one of those also-ran bands, the AOR genre always has class and consistency and this release provides a pedestal to the top of the pile when it comes to stunning releases. In fact, the whole album does not let up in quality, the keyboards are well versed and come in and out at the right places that don’t over power the music. Their self proclaimed “BFC” (Big F… Chorus) ethos is a perfect description, this takes you to days of innocence and happier times, there is not an ounce of hatred, satanic rites or ill conceived political ranting on ‘Atmosphere’, the subject matters tug at heartstrings and welcome the contemporary art of displaying ones emotions on record/cd. ‘We Are One’ and ‘Angel of Mine’ are two further stand out numbers, once play is pressed, this album has your full attention and you will find memorable and credible songs to wash way the hours of even the most miserable day of your life.

There is not so much of a solo effort, or a guitar virtuoso display within ‘Atmosphere’, the band are a well oiled unit and provide one of the best AOR experiences I have heard in a while. A classy release full of big chorus encompassing well versed musicianship and a vocal performance second to none.
