Artist: Corrosive Carcass
Title: Rot In Pieces
Type: Demo EP
Label: Self Released
Swedish band Corrosive Carcass were formed in 2004, and guess what, these guys are another of the current wave of bands playing the classic rotten old school death metal. But to all the cynics, hey, who cares, this is good authentic stuff!
The production, the vocal style, the attitude and overall feel has you thoroughly rooted in 1989/1990. If you have the choice of going rotten, then this is probably the closest you’re going to get to an old recording. The guitar sound is thick and meaty, the drum sound a little thin, a vintage recording for sure. Of course when it is produced in the drummer’s apartment, what else can you expect? The songs themselves leave nothing to the imagination; there is chaos and groove, like the wonderful breakdown during ‘Self Mutilation’, which does not give you much time to recoup to when it goes mental. ‘Awesome Nuclear Power’ displays much early Autopsy hero worship; in fact this would be the closest comparison to this cool racket, or even the demos of Nirvana 2002.
This release is raw, fast, aggressive and authentic to the max.
