Opening track ‘Initiation’ from these Finn’s really fools you, it’s very melodic metal, and a great build up to what will become ‘Operation Citadel’ which is a thunderous old school death metal number. If you think of bands mixing it like Convulse, Asphyx and early-Death (vocally) then you have these young guys nailed to the cross. This is one of those albums that you feel like you have been with for quite a few years, the music rolls off their instruments straight into your brain and instantly becomes memorable. This is a good sign and marked shout out to good quality song writing. This is old school war death metal, the drumming is thunderous, battle scarred and consistently powerful, the guitar riffs are melodic, but very heavy in the rhythm sections, the vocals really suit the style effortlessly. From every howling scream, torturous bellow, each note is crafted with deft precision.

Taking quite a few ideas from past masters, this young band really have done their homework well, I love the guitar runs in the solo to ‘From the Cradle to the Grave’, and some of those vocals sound like Morbus Chron’s unhallowed screams too. Musically they are not the same as the aforementioned, but there are many proper death metal groovy anthems to contend with from start to finish.

All in all, this is a really good album, I love this style and the way this is presented is just awesome, old school with a decent production ‘Encirclement’ captures the excitement, the energy of many of the forefathers of this genre, but Decaying in their own right should be very proud of the way they execute this masterful recording, it’s certainly one to check out and ‘Encirclement’ comes highly recommended.
