Artist: Zygoatsis
Title: S.K.U.D. (Satanic Kultus-Unholy Desecration)
Type: Album
Label: Necromancer Records

Zygoatsis is probably not a band familiar to the readers of in the UK or Europe, but these guys are really carving a name for themselves in Southeast Asia. Hailing from the Land of Smiles (Thailand), these five guys have been taking the metal scene at home by storm since forming in 2003.

From the modest beginnings, Zygoatsis have spawned several demos (Goatnuclear Assault Promo- 2004; Warhymn-2009), splits (The Unholy Unification to Sacrificed-2005, Apocalyptik Blasphemy of the Revolutionists-2006, Siamese Barbaric Nuclear Warmageddon-2011), an EP (Siamese Warmageddon-2009) and finally a new album, S.K.U.D. (Satanic Kultus-Unholy Desecration) released in 2011.

S.K.U.D. (Satanic Kultus-Unholy Desecration) may be Zygoatsis first full length album (after 8 years), but the time spent honing their craft on past releases (demos, splits and all) really paid off on this album. The first track of S.K.U.D. ‘Evoke the Goatphomet’, explains the band in one word: SPEED! Don’t be fooled by the intro, which features Buddhist monks chants followed by the sound of machines guns and bombs exploding in the back ground; which immediately opens up with a barrage of drums rattling at lightning speed to screaming caveman growls set to crunching guitar riffs! Speed is the name of the game; and ZYGOATSIS lacks none of it. In fact the whole album is built for speed. Pure unadulterated brutal speed!

S.K.U.D. also features the guest vocals of Shyaithan (vocalist/ bassist) of renowned black metal band, Impiety (who lends his vocals on tracks, Zygoatical Epidemic Assassination and Black Forced Khaostorms), an obvious influence of the band, who proudly paid homage by covering a brutal version of Impiety’s Lords of Apocalypse, off Skullfucking Armageddon, which is included as a bonus at the end of the album.

There is nothing mediocre about this album. It is all filled with brutal speed from start to finish and definitely not for the faint of heart or for the masses but a unique taste for a connoisseur!
