There’s nothing like a controversial and abhorrent band name to get you noticed. You’ve only got to look at Dying Fetus and the amount of flak they took when they started to get noticed a decade or so ago. As with most bands with monikers like this it is brutal death metal all the way with little room for finesse or overt melodies.
An eerie intro with acoustic guitar and backing guitar feedback starts this album which you know is intent on swerving into battering gurglecore at any moment. The manic hyperblasts and double bass bombardment on “Mental Personality Disorder” are typical of the brutal death metal scene offering little in the way of tune but using drum and bass to create a melodious bounce within every song this bunch of Russian guys has created. I never really pay attention to the lyrical fodder these bands grunt about but at least here the lyrics aren’t your usual hack, stab, chew and maim bollocks. In places it looks like the band has strung together various lines to create their lyrics, though the subject matter eluded me plus I couldn’t be bothered to read them all, especially when you have a vocalist whose delivery never seems to match what is in the booklet.
Anyway onto a few other tracks, “Corp(se)oration Of Gluttony” is a double bass infestation whereas the title track has a good go at Immolation density, without the panache or flair it has to be said. There are some Cannibal Corpse like moments on “Post Mortal Hymenoplastic blah blah….” with deluging bass drum kicks and hand waving blast sections. “Total Sodomization” is closer to old Dying Fetus with sporadic blast periods but like the zillions of other acts like this in the world Aborted Fetus will be popular in their own scene but breaking away from it to garner recognition further afield is likely to prove difficult even though this is a good if predictable release of brutalising down-tuned death metal thuggery.
