Imagine a massive meat pie with a big fuck off layer of crust, then imagine a massive boot stamping up and down on it, pulverising the pastry and sending thick gelid burnt gravy and sinewy chunks of flesh to splatter all over the walls; welcome to the sound of Magrudergrind. For once this is a band that do not have an entry on Metal Archives, something that I rarely find, especially not for a signed band. There is a little bit on Rock Detector telling me they play grindcore (thanks) and that they have released one album ‘Rehashed’ in 2007 and a split with Shitstorm in 2006. In fact there is very little info about them anywhere and I had at first taken a wild guess that they might be Dutch but on finding their MySpace see they are in fact from Washington DC and are currently tearing the US a new asshole on tour.

This pretty much ticks all the grinding boxes and it does so with a mental crust-punk style in the process. We have the collaged sleeve art vomited together with seemingly wild abandon, 17 tracks in 27 minutes, lots of nutty samples including ones from ‘Midnight Express’ and I think possibly New Jack City amongst them and then there are the crazy rabid songs (for want of a better word). Basically if you feel the need, the need for speed, this is going to hit like a dose of angel dust!

Song titles are unsurprisingly random, I mean how else can you possibly name a 90 second Armageddon attacking like a wave of sonic noise? Actually ‘The Protocols Of Anti-Sound’ does actually hit the nail on the head, starting with a massive down tempo wail this provides a doom laden start to the album before going into a coruscating stew of unrelenting carnage. Everything is mangled and twisted into a Manga type collision before the groove of second number ‘Pulverizing Hate Mongers’ adds some extreme noise terror into the mix. Yep it’s crust city now, falling over with Strongbow Super and throwing up all over the floor in the process. There is not much to define between tracks, I could say this one has slightly more BPM per minute, that one has a bit of a beat down and that one has what sounds like someone spitting at the end but it would be a bit pointless really. All that is necessary is sitting back and letting this batter you senseless for the duration, which is something it does admirably, before finishing it all off with ‘Martyrs Of The Shoah,’ essentially a 3 and a half minute sample of the Rev Jim Jones talking to his thirsty disciples.

I could waffle on here but there’s nothing much more to say, you get exactly what you expect with this: a headache :)
