Well. Sixty odd songs on a cd. I thought I’d be here till next Christmas reviewing this one. Thankfully this split is all about short, blasting, offensive and brutal songs!!! Anal Whore take the approach of having utterly offensive introductions (always good to make it all memorable!!) coupled with vocals that sound like a waste disposal machine emptying out and a drum machine that sounds like it’s come out of the film Maximum Overdrive. These twenty songs, if you take all the sampled narrative out probably amounts to about ten minutes worth of music. In all though it is good fun and some of the samples are funny (in a totally un-PC way of course). The pace is all pretty out and out blast here and it’s all a bit samey but due to the brief nature of the songs, it is all kind of enjoyable.

Tumour are up next (not the kind of thing you ever want to hear from someone in the medical profession). The guitars here a little bit more down-tuned and Autopsy sounding compared to Anal Whore. However, the drums are just as blazing fast, and the vocals similarly gargle away like De Niro out of the Cape Fear drowning scene. The film intros are thankfully a little shorter and the songs probably have a little bit more variety. The lyrical content is equally as offensive as Anal Whore (you’ll be delighted to know) and the boys take their song titles from what could be the early era Carcass back catalogue. My favourite here is probably the longest track “Jammed in her ass”. This one has the blasts slowed down that little bit and is pretty damn good. Although the intro to “Gagging Chunks of Blood” is pretty damn funny – I defy you not to have at least a little chortle.

Finally, rounding off this delightful cd – we have Urinefestival; who have managed to put about thirty tracks into about fifteen minutes worth of time. This is probably even more brutal than the two previous bands. Less sampling, more blasting. Less let up. Just out and out brutal grind. The staccato quick drumming occasionally giving way to the odd pedestrian beat – but this doesn’t happen much. The guitars are just laid down in a haze over the top and the vocals are mixture of the gargle and the growl. I personally didn’t think I’d like this, but I’ve been proven wrong, and it’s all quite good.

Add to this the most pleasant cd cover. I mean – I haven’t got a clue what is being done in one of the pictures, safe to say that I’d probably ask for a general anaesthetic before that was attempted. If you like your music offensive, fast, grinding and short then this cd will suit you fine!! Anyone for complex structured songs would best avoid. For the out and out grind/pornogrind/goregrind fan!!
