Crust Ahoy! Yes this is the shit and the second I read the biog here and saw in the few words, lacking in any hyperbole, that Lautstürmer had a couple of ex-members of Driller Killer in their ranks, I knew exactly what to expect. This is an exercise in 12 songs, fired out in quick succession of Swedish crust punk, d-beat worship and song titles like ‘Nothing’s Changed’ completely sum up the mindset behind it.
This was never going to be a thousand word review, in fact I have probably summed up the album with what I have said already but pressing play and gearing up for 25 minutes worth of annihilation here is a bit more of a dissection. ‘Human Waste Erased’ starts as it means to go and bombs along with tightly-honed, jangling guitars and heavy muscle flexing bass work. Vocals sound like they have been laid out in one take after a 4 pack of Special Brew and there is a stench of rotting leather jackets, patched up combat trousers with beer towels and spiked hair not washed in months coming off this. Yep it’s easy to cite the likes of Discharge, GBH, ENT and even at times Motorhead and the simplicity of the music is what defines it. This is music to drink, retch, feck and vomit too. It also helped me do the cleaning up really quickly too but that’s probably the anti-punk side of things and I should have said wreck the squat really.
This takes back to the days of discovering Peaceville greats like Doom, The Electro Hippies, the crust of Amebix and the yobbish bottle throwing antics of early Conflict. The gang’s all here and dressed up as only the Swedish seem to know how to do it properly nowadays. There really is sod all else to say here but if you like punk and old fashioned gnarly metal and are not afraid of getting grubby, mucky, dirty and soiled check these scumbags out, you won’t regret it. Now piss off to the link below and listen to ‘Let The Axe Fall;’ Tune!
