Dutch death metal crew Bodyfarm follow hot on the heels of such notable legends as Hail of Bullets and others coming from the Dutch Death Metal Fraternity, making waves spreading their death metal disease amongst the unsuspecting public. Non-compromising death metal is what the PR blurb states, and this is not far from the truth.

What you have is a colourful mix of classic death metal, both of the US (Morbid Angel and Obituary) and European scenes (like the aforementioned) with interludes reminiscent of that wonderful Swedish grit and determination (early-Grave), whilst not purely rotten, the barrage of pounding bass and low end guttural vocal delivery very much wets the appetite of any death metal fan. ‘Final Redemption’ chugs and pulverises with stomach churning grunt and the double kick drum sound thunders your mind into submission. Ok you will probably think that this is nothing out of the ordinary, well, you would be right, but when you have a sound and arrangement capable of heralding the four horseman of the apocalypse, you really don’t care. This is death metal, done in an organic and classic way, there are none of these manufactured modern sounds, or fake blast beats present or necessary for that matter. This 5-track hard hitter is pretty much a summary of the organic death metal religion, whether you’re a fan or not, Bodyfarm are certainly worth an attentive listen, the closer ‘Slaves of War’ has you subsiding into a comfortable pair of boots in terms of prowess and quality deliverance, Bodyfarm have a voice, a sound, and a knack for arranging songs that expel mosh pit endurance for years to come.
