Well just when you thought band names were getting all too serious, a demo comes in from a band whose name you really can’t say with a straight face. With a name like The Rumpshaking Rider Crew, you know not to expect anything too deep or thought provoking; this Teutonic trio simply promise to “make your ears explode and get you black-out drunk!” The title of the opening track really says it all; ‘Badboys have Good Fun’ slithers in with a real sleazy guitar lick that wastes no time in dragging you into an outta town joint where a row of Harleys line up across the entrance and inside it’s all bar brawls, leather jackets and broken glass. Musically this is hard and heavy with the kind of riffs you can really sink your teeth into; it certainly sounds like these bad boys are having fun and probably has their biker bitches shaking their rumps too.

‘Dirty Golden City’ is the most memorable track here, I’m not sure whether that is in a good way or not. It kind of reminds me of a sped-up slightly punkier sounding version of Guns’n’Roses ‘Paradise City.’ It’s got a great bounce to it for sure and it’s all a bit of dirt-encrusted, light hearted fun, however the vocals are rather comical. Imagine, if you will, Lemmy singing with a bad sore throat after chain-smoking cigars all day and trying but failing to imitate Glen Benton. Honestly, I’ve listened to this several times now and I find them laughably bad on the one hand, but strangely…well, amusing. You can’t take offence, and I kind of get the feeling this is all fairly tongue in cheek and it’s almost like they are poking fun at themselves. To say this is an outstanding musical effort would be a downright lie because it certainly isn’t. It’s what I would call very one dimensional, playing out basically the same riffs over and over, rarely changing pace and the vocals totally monotone. But there is a kind of energy and rawness to it all that makes it…strangely enjoyable. So grab yourself a beer, dust off your leathers and bang that head.
