Artist: Dead Flesh Fashion
Title: Anchors
Type: Album
Label: Baskat Recordings
This is one of these CDs, which I will review and not even remember in half a year, unfortunately. There's not much I can say; Dead Flesh Fashion are just another clone of boring old fashioned death/emo/whatever-core. If you have heard punk before, and if you are into mainstream metal of today (called "underground" because it's cool to do so), you’ll know exactly what I am talking about. It's a strange thing, really, as I can hear that the musicians are talented (especially the drummer and the vocalist, who are rather good), the production is great, and the whole thing is maybe just a little bit more melodic than a typical core pulp - but still there is nothing really original in "Anchors". Not a single track is able to grab my attention, and after listening to this a few times I still don't remember any song titles (or lyrics). Of course, you can blame winter coming, not enough sunlight, etc. - but I'd say it'd be just an excuse.
I can bet that these folks can produce a good, interesting album, but they would have to work a bit harder. For the moment all they are doing is swimming in the same soup, for every second of this album. The only exception would probably be the last, 16 minute long track, "Carcass and vulture in love", finished with a really crazy wall of sound, massive distortion and general madness - but that's not enough to keep me listening, and unfortunately I have the impression that this song could be also cut down and presented in a standard way.
I am not impressed. No, it's not a bad album. It's ok. Just. But maybe that's enough?
