One look at COT’s myspace site will speak volumes before you even listen to the music. The phrase “motor-charged” is bandied about - these Mohawk, studded attire clad Italians have already made waves but for potential fans, their Motorhead, Discharge/Charged GBH, early-Carnivore/DRI hybrid sound, is far more accurate than the thrash/crossover tag they currently endure.
Vocalist DeathLord Astolfi does have a very crusty Lemmy rasp to his approach - stuck in a post-apocalyptic nuclear war existence, there is no denying their power when a tune like ‘Racing Through the Valley of Death’ or the dirty charged annihilation of ‘New Enemies to Hunt’ hits your eardrums. You wont find fretboard wankery or specific guitar solos, when they appear in the midst of their chaotic natured tracks, they are loose, very loose, even sloppy, but you know what, this is a perfect penchant for your listening pleasure. The release does not last long, so spend your 24-odd minutes wisely. I find this band fresh, exciting and they appear to give off a sense of danger. This is the wake up you need to account for the loss of the summer weather and you will get ‘Nuclear Armed Dogs’ running free and hungry for flesh through the sweat and filth.
Be prepared for a couple of shows later this month in London, including the Live Evil Festival. These Italians will cause a riot and deservedly so. This album has previously been released on tape and vinyl by other labels, now you modern folks can hunt down the CD version with ease. Be prepared for a nuclear holocaust; this is fast, crusty, aggressive and a downright good listen. Buy or Die!
