KITTIE
QUEENS HALL, NUNEATON – 25/10/08
I've been listening to Kittie since 1997, when I listened to them on a John Peel session on Radio 1. They have had in the past the reputation of being an all-girl metal band out to prove something, but that opinion never really had any foundation to it, and thus on this current tour and with new album released, they introduce something new to us all...Pure Metal.
They are after all a METAL band, trying to do their thing like everyone else, regardless of age/sex/etc. They have bashed out four full length albums since their debut, Spit, and to this day I still refer to it as a classic album, it’s just raw gutsy metal straight from the heart.
Now that the sister’s Lander have matured they have returned with another classic Album in the form of Funeral for Yesterday, and with a new line up aswell......now here’s some advice to the girls – Don’t change the line up again, it’s perfect as it is.....seriously – you have now proven this!!
They hit the stage after the support bands have completed their bit, and instantly kick us hard with their impact driven metal music.
The show, including favourites such as "What I Always Wanted", "Charlotte", and "Pussy Sugar" is complemented by the classic "Brackish" and a couple tracks from their latest album Funeral For Yesterday, like "Flower of Flesh and Blood" and the heart pounding “Breathe”....a classic if ever there was!
This was a gig worth the wait, as last time I caught up with them was on their last visit to UK shores when they joined the Ozzfest Bill in 2002. And after waiting to see them live for what seems like forever, I was not disappointed.
Seriously, these girls are now going in the right direction.........and that is upwards. I do expect to see them again, and on a BIGGER tour....
“Funeral for yesterday” – out now....BUY IT.
