THE MORE I SEE

THE BEDFORD PARK, STREATHAM (LONDON) - 12/09/08

So, after a long public transport trip south of the river for me, I arrived in lively Streatham. The pub was worryingly empty to start with, and then just before the band came on stage, the place got packed out. Much deserved too in my opinion after receiving no promotion for this gig.

The band now on their second full length release (‘The Unholy Feast’), having just filmed a video for the album title track the day before, arrive with all of their own kit and set up accordingly. Then it begins… Their thrash metal music with real singing is just the thing to lift the crowd. ‘What is Worse Than the Truth’ sounds pretty damn good and throw in the mix of the twin guitar attack from Gizz Butt and Gavin King, plus Spike T. Smith’s thunderous drumming and the ever powerful vocals from Chad makes it a pure class affair. ‘The Unholy Feast’ gives the bass guitar a workout, courtesy of Lee Churchill, the solos just keep on coming thick and furious. ‘Bloodline’ is a tremendous track and I have to say it’s a shame the set ended when it did, they could have played all night, my attention never swayed one little bit, although my neck would probably not last much longer. A bit of marketing in the form of reduced t-shirt prices lends itself to a ferocious barrage of guitar riffs, clear precise melodic vocals and in truth one of the best live shows of recent times I have personally witnessed. Another point would be to give full credit to the venues sound engineer on the night with a clear, heavy mix that showcases the bands sound perfectly.

‘The More I See’ are also playing again on 22nd October at Bar Monsta, London, you could seriously do no wrong in going to check these guys out. The power and energy of their live show is immense.
