Formed in 2007, Flayed Disciple band members Thurston Howe and Jon Whitfield decided to get together and create some material. More members were found including vocalist Tim Whyte (Mutilated Carcass) and drummer Phil Tolfree (Burning Skies).
In 2009 they toured with Seregon and even managed some gigs with big death metal names such as The Rotted and Brutal Truth. These gigs gave them some much deserved publicity. Now the band are on their second EP release (self titled) with two previously released tracks and two brand arse spankingly new ones.
With only four tracks to show, the new EP is a winning mix of thrash and death metal. The first track genius named ‘Ejaculate While Killing’ offers some brutal growling vocals and a steady thrash concoction of riffs and superb drumming. The lyrics are definitely something to point out. “Hammer to the head, Ejaculate while killing, Covered in her guts, I ejaculate while killing, Stabbing at her cunt, I ejaculate while killing, Slashed into a mess, opened up to bleed” .. nice!!. ‘Exodus’ blasts straight in with the big dirty (and sounding quite complicated) riffs and drum rolls, a creepy guitar solo during the middle section sounds astounding and fits perfectly. The third track ‘Torso Fuck’ has a great intro from the movie ‘Chopper,’ made about a crazed Australian murderer. As soon as the intro part is over, it slams you in the face with some extreme fast paced and deadly drumming, and again the lyrics of blood, sex and gore just adds to the evilness of the music. The final track on the demo has the best intro - sounds of thunder, screaming and what sounds like whipping/slicing up of someone/something.
This EP is a definite winner. It has all the ingredients for an epic death metal band, and that’s exactly what they give you. The vocals are amazing to say the least, really impressed with how well they fit. The drumming is immense, pure talent!. I couldn’t find any faults with the four tracks and I especially liked the lyrics. I really can’t understand why these haven’t been snapped up by record companies yet?
