No longer are Warbringer the new kids on the thrash block, now into their third full length album, now is the time for them to step up to the mark and claim their position as one of the leading lights in this genre. I say this rather comfortably, I saw these guys last year in Germany, I was blow away at their ability to get hundreds of people into a circle pit at the same time (one of the biggest I have ever seen), their stage craft is rather commanding and their music blows through your speakers like a hurricane at full strength.
Their sound is very much like Slayer, you could say some Exodus too, but the energy is certainly of the slaytanic variety, especially the intro to ‘Savagery’, this is very ‘Seasons in the Abyss’ intro related during its own intro. Mixing both aggression and technical ability, there is a massive feel of vibrancy and “life” to this release. At no point do I feel bored neither do I skip or lose concentration. Riff after riff, belting vocal line after vocal line, this is thunderous effort. Other highlights include ‘Echoes from the Void’ and the opener ‘Living Weapon’. Warbringer sometimes tease you with some soft, lighter introductions to their songs, but rest assured, adrenaline junkies need not fear, you don’t have to wait long for some effortless thrash metal tirades.
Warbringer are still fresh, they are to me one of the leading lights in the thrash scene, that in itself became a little stale again recently (like the early 1990’s). Old habits die hard, and Warbringer have taken to heart all of the good vibrations felt in the earlier generation of thrash metal. ‘Worlds Torn Asunder’ is one of the thrash releases of the year.
